The spike of the number of people infected by the coronavirus disease in Midsayap prompted the Local Government Unit to implement its Alternative Working Arrangement (AWA) Plan effective on Thursday, May 20.

The Office of the Mayor, Hon. Romeo D. Arańa, issued a memorandum reiterating the implementation of the AWA Plan of LGU Midsayap to address the present situation brought by the coronavirus pandemic.

According to the said memorandum, employees who are 60 years old and above, as well as those with immunodeficiency, comorbidities, or health risk or under medication, pregnant women, lactating mothers and persons with disabilities (PWDs) shall be under a work-from-home arrangement except when their services are indispensable under the circumstances or when office work is permitted.

Said memorandum also provides that department heads must ensure that employees on a work-from-home arrangement are given tasks to be performed and shall make themselves available during the work hours that they are at home or if their presence is needed, the employee shall report to work.

It can be remembered that some of the LGU employees were hit by COVID-19 and were isolated at the LGU-initiated isolation facility in Barangay Upper Glad II that affected the operation and services of the local government to its clients.

The Civil Service Commission through its Memorandum Circular No. 10, Series of 2020 provides the Revised Interim Guidelines for Alternative Work Arrangements and Support Mechanisms for Workers in the Government During the Period of National Emergency Due to COVID-19 Pandemic.

Under the AWA Plan, a combination of a three-day workweek and two days work-from-home arrangement to complete the 40-hour workweek shall be observed except those offices providing health and emergency frontline services.

Moreover, during the Flag Raising Ceremony held on Monday, May 24, at the municipal compound, Councilor Vivencio V. Deomampo, Jr., Incident Commander of the Local IATF ICS-EOC, asked for the support of every employee of the local government unit to practice minimum health protocols to curb the spread of the deadly disease.

The Sangguniang Bayan also postponed its third leg of SB Session sa Barangay that was set to be conducted in Barangay Lagumbingan on May 25.
