Through the initiative of Councilor Mark Ferven Avance, SK Municipal Federation President of Midsayap, ‘Project Tabang’ was launched in Midsayap this April.
The project aims to give assistance to families who are socially and economically affected by the coronavirus disease pandemic.
‘Project Tabang’ is a joint initiative of the SK Municipal Federation of Midsayap, Midsayap Youth Development Council with the support of Higala, a youth advocacy group in Midsayap .
Last April 8, the first wave of relief distribution was conducted in Barangay Milaya with 80 household beneficiaries. Project Tabang’s second wave of distribution was held last April 17 in Barangay Bitoka (130 household- beneficiaries) and Barangay Baliki (118 household-beneficiaries).
‘Kanami magtabang sa katawhan upod ning mga kabataan na magbulos puhon kanato bilang lider sa atong komunidad’, said Councilor Avance.
Funds used to purchase the rice and goods for ‘Project Tabang’ were donations from friends and batch mates of Councilor Avance and other private individuals.
Kynzyl Gail Sacatani, head of Higala, also expressed gratitude to Batch 2015 of Southern Christian College- College of Teacher Education (SCC-CTE) and other private individuals who supported “Project Tabang’.
Avance added that they continue to accept donations in any kind or monetary form from people who are willing to share their help in this time of uncertainty.
Drop-off point for in-kind donations like alcohol, rice, vitamins, hygiene kits, groceries and other essential goods shall be at the First Floor of the Legislative Building, Municipal Compound.
Councilor Avance who is also a responsible officer of the EOC said that a ‘Project Tabang’ partnership with the private sector is already on deck for the distribution of face shields to vendors at the Midsayap Public Market.
According to Councilor Avance, this project is coordinated with the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) pursuant to the Executive Order No. 27, Series of 2020 issued by Mayor Romeo Arańa placing Midsayap under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) from April 15 to April 30.
Under the ECQ, strict home quarantine is implemented where movements of residents are regulated through the issuance of the Midsayap Quarantine Pass (MidQP) to designated individual per household to access basic necessities and provisions for food and health services.
