Midsayap is now under State of Calamity because of the increasing threat of the corona virus disease in the Municipality.

This was one of the immediate legislative actions of the Sangguniang Bayan during its 35th Regular Session held on Tuesday, March 17.

“Laging nakasuporta ang Sangguniang Bayan sa mga inisyatibo ng Local Corona Virus Task Force sa pamumuno ni Mayor Romeo Arańa upang labanan ang banta ng COVID-19 sa Midsayap”, said Vice Mayor Manuel Rabara.

The declaration of the state of calamity shall afford the LGU ample latitude to utilize appropriate funds in its efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 and to continue to provide basic services to the people of Midsayap;

The Sanggunian also recommended to the Local Corona Virus Task Force that the calamity funds shall be allocated to purchase of medicine and other necessary logistics for the conduct of massive disinfection/ sanitation, personal protective equipment for frontline medical professionals, and the set-up of quarantine areas to serve as isolation facilities for patients needing further medical attention.

It can be remembered that after the assessment and recommendation by the Municipal Health Office and the Local Corona Virus Task Force, Mayor Romeo Arańa issued on March 16, 2020 Executive Order No. 21 which provides the guidelines for the implementation of a preemptive community quarantine, checkpoints for exit and entry of persons, prevention, control, and management of the COVID-19 in the Municipality of Midsayap.
