In response to the DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2020-036 which bans tricycles and pedicabs along the national highway, LGU Midsayap through the Transportation and Traffic Management Section (TTMS) in partnership with the Midsayap Police Station headed by PLtC. John Miridel Calinga, started the dry run implementing the said circular last March 12, 2020.
The said memorandum prohibits tricycles, pedicabs and motorized pedicabs from operating on national highways and directs all concerned leaders of different local government units in the country to implement it.
During the 31st Regular Session held last February 18, 2020, the Sanggunian passed SB Resolution No. 2020-028 sponsored by Hon. Alan Ry Mostrales, President of the Liga Ng Mga Barangay, enjoining the Midsayap Police Station and LTO District Office in Midsayap to join the Transportation and Traffic Management Section (TTMS) to device a Traffic Management Plan in the implementation of the memorandum. The said legislative action also recommended to Mayor Romeo Arańa to create a Joint Task Force to spearhead the implementation of the said circular.
It can be recalled that the proposed Tricycle Route Plan (TRP) were presented to the presidents of different Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA), the members of the media, and other stakeholders.
Vice Mayor Manuel Rabara encouraged the TODA presidents and the media to help in the dissemination of information regarding the implementation of the said memorandum. He also emphasized that the DILG MC 2020-036 only seeks to ensure the safety of the riding public and the drivers themselves.
The public is advised that clarifications about the dry run shall be addressed to Mr. Mario Ostique, Head of the TTMS of LGU Midsayap.
